There is life after work

After work I often go out for drinks with my friends. Come to think of it, that’s what makes me go through the day without going mad :P. We all need a bit of relaxation at the end of our busy days and for me that is drinking a glass of wine and chatting with my girls.

In terms of appearance I can always get away with my office attire since I am never underdressed… maybe sometimes a bit overdressed. But a very wise man once said “You can never be overdressed or overeducated” (Oscar Wilde) therefore I’m good. All I need to do is refresh my make up, add a bit of perfume and I’m good to go. Girls, here I come!

In the content I am presenting today I am wearing a monochrome outfit that I consider so sophisticated yet so easy to pair and wear. The pièce de résistance of the ensemble is the waistcoat by Cristina Sabaiduc, which is not only very chic but also quite practical because of its large pockets.

Leather Skirt

When it comes to leather, I stick to jackets that I think are the best thing ever. Skirts and trousers for example are not my usual scene. So to find a skirt in real leather that appeals to me, was a very nice surprise, especially since these days I seem to struggle to find clothes that give me the instant urge to buy them (it might just be time to take a break from shopping at Zara). Not that Mango it that much different from Zara, but funny enough my skirt was a welcome distraction in their store. The wrap effect was such a hit with me since I had been looking for something similar for some time now. So here it goes my new leather pencil skirt that I am so happy to own and to have in my wardrobe as one of those items that will be hopefully worn many years from now.

I bet all of us feel inspired by Spring. I know I fell like a new beginning is unfolding right in front of our eyes. When I was home at my parents, I loved how everything was blooming and from one day to another we had a different scenery in the garden. I felt like I had to take some pictures there, but I hardly found the time to dress up. When I am away I always travel with at least one pair of comfortable heels. You never know when you need to look a bit more polished. My look is just that, a running errands look, or a late afternoon coffee date with friends.

Post pregnancy outfit

Finding the time to get dressed up these days is not easy. All that is related to me and my fashion sense is in the back of my mind somewhere and there is no time or energy to bring it forward. I cherish those 10 minutes when I get to pick up my outfit for the day and I want to be comfortable and baby friendly so even my jewellery and make up are minimal. I am lucky to have my pre pregnancy body back (I still have a few extra kilos left but hopefully they will go once I start exercising) hence my old wardrobe is pretty much available for me again. This helps especially when you see your old jeans fit again. So for my first outfit post pregnancy I chose my favourite boyfriend jeans, a sweater and heels. Oh how I missed my high heels (never underestimate the power of high heels ladies). They are on my list of small things that make your day a bit better.

Navy blue shirt dress

Another great find in Zara made my day last week. It is the shirt dress that can always come in handy since it is classy, but also business enough to wear at work. For me is as indispensable in my wardrobe as the little black dress. The colour is one of my favourites since I have a bit of obsession with any shade of blue. Again it will be perfect after my pregnancy since it is a loose fit and the size is not very big. I paired it with ankle boots and a hat.

And as a side note, if you are in Zurich this weekend, you can stop by the Fahion Hotel. It is a fashion event that gathers a lot of fashion brands, pop up stores and fashion shows.

Outfit: Maxi Sweater

It’s officially autumn around where we live and I started to stock up on sweaters. I was browsing H&M for basics when I found this maxi sweater in the non maternity section. I got the smallest size and it still looks loose and most likely I will be able to wear it after I give birth. I like wearing fitted sweaters and clothes that compliment my bump, but every once in a while I like something loose. It might not look so flattering, but I still feel pretty good in them.

Also how big is this bump of mine? It feels like in the last 2 weeks it’s grown so much. I am in week 30 and I can’t believe I only have 2 months to go. Time goes by so fast and excitement is growing because I can’t wait to meet our little guy!

3 ways to style a basic dress

Who knew pregnancy was the time when you could recycle items from you wardrobe, Kate Middleton style!? Well not me. Today’s story is around this basic H&M dress that I bough one year ago, thinking it would be perfect to wear around the house. Well I did wear it a few times and then it ended up in the back of a drawer until last week when I remembered I had it. Turns out, that with a bump, this dress looks quite good and it’s so versatile that I decided to put together 3 outfits around it.  I had so much fun putting them together and I realised once more how flattering pregnancy can be. As for this new casual style, it is growing on me more and more. Dresses like this are just perfect and I could just live in them.

Outfit 1 – H&M dress (basic section), Maje blazer, Steve Madden sneakers, Zara Necklace, Miu Miu Sunglasses, Musette clutch, Mac Morange Lipstick

Road trip look

A few weeks ago we took a train ride with Bernina Express and we stopped for a few hours in this little mountain town, Poschiavo. We enjoyed a nice lunch at one of the oldest Italian restaurants I have ever been in my life, Albrici (built in 1682) and walked around the small streets afterwards. It was Saturday and the streets were very quiet, we even joked about the traffic (or lack off) but overall there were some nice couple of hours. I never quite know what to wear for trips to the mountains, since I am not the exact hiking boots kinda of girl, so I chose the safest option that would keep me warm and comfortable: oversize pullover, ankle boots, and a trench coat in case it rains. It proved to be a bit to warm for the actual train ride but outside it was just perfect. Also that day my hair decided to be very straight so whenever I look at the way I wore it, I think of Rachel Zoe. Am I crazy?
