Zurich Street food festival – Winter edition

I thought I would share a few pictures from the Zurich Street Food Festival that happened this past weekend in the city. I feel like I don’t do much these days besides the baby, so this seems like a good opportunity to share something else with you. We are very passionate about food, as you might have noticed, and we try not miss an opportunity for tasting some amazing dishes. We had the best hot dog, burger, pastrami sandwich and strudel this Saturday. Seriously if the food trucks would be in the city all year I would only eat there. Dangerous. If in Zurich, check the website for the next dates when the festival is happening. This was the winter edition.

You can read here about the summer edition.

Zurich street food festival

This weekend Zurich is hosting it’s first street food festival. Imagine quite a number of street carts that serve amazing food gathered in one place. It sounds really good especially if you are a foodie and you love to try new stuff. We went this evening and we had delicious tacos, a 65 hours cider steak, a steam roll pork burger and mezze. Don’t imagine huge portions, but just enough to get a good taste of the flavours. What I like about street food is that every stand had something specific and special. You won’t find two burgers that are the same, each producer tries to bring something new and original to get you to try and love their food. The selection was quite good, it went from pizza to indian curries or other asian fusion dishes. We were totally sold on the whole experience and I can only hope that we will see more street food popping up in Zurich. We really need more variety on the food scene in this town.

The festival is still open tomorrow, Sunday the 31 of August, if you are interested. More information about the location and schedule can be found here and here. And some pictures to get your appetite going.

Cheesecake Chic in Zurich

Me and my husband are both known for our sweet tooth and even though we try to be careful about how many sweets we eat, at occasions we like to indulge into something more special. Our three year anniversary was a very good opportunity to try this new cheesecake shop that now delivers to Zurich. It is called Cheesecake Chic and it offers a selection of cheesecakes that you can order for a reasonable price. Everything is freshly made with organic ingredients and the taste is divine. We ordered 6 mini cheesecakes with different fruit toppings. I liked the texture of the cream cheese and the fact that the biscuit base was moist and a bit juicy made it perfect. Also it was not too sweet, which I think is always so good since too much sugar can be too overpowering for the overall taste.

I ordered on the website and after the order was confirmed we set a time and date on when we could pick up the cheesecakes. All went smoothly and I can definitely recommend it, especially if you are fans of cheesecakes. Traian managed to take a few pictures before we devoured them.

Walking on top of Zurich

On Sunday, after a previous night in company of our friends, we knew we had a beautiful day ahead of us. And there was no doubt that we are going to spend it outside. So after a long breakfast we headed for a walk 800 meters on top of Zurich, in Felsenegg. The panorama you get from there is so beautiful, with an extended view of the lake and Zurich city. Utliberg is more known for offering a panorama of the city, but I have to say that after seeing Felsenegg, I find it much better. The nice thing is that you can have a hike between the 2 hills (just 1h and a half) or you can just go to Felsenegg and chose a route for a hike from there. We walked for about an hour in the area admiring the green fields and the scenery. The place was such a nice surprise that I am planning a picnic there in the near future.

Friday Mindset

It’s barbecue season and we are about to have the first one this year at the house. Nothing better for ending your week, if you ask me. Tomorrow I have planned to spend most of the day in Zurich, getting my hair done and meeting a friend. In the evening we are going to have a small gathering at another friends house, enjoying a few drinks and having some laughs. So relaxing weekend ahead for us. I hope you have a good one as well. If you are in Zurich you might want to check the Bazaar tomorrow at Stall 6.

Some fun facts about Americans.

How to cook grilled artichokes? I am definitely giving this recipe a try.

I love this look very much and the Celine bag is on my wish list.

Cuffed jeans with statement shoes are something I could wear everyday.

Summer is all about fresh drinks. My favourite in summer time is Aperol Spritz, but I would not say no to this mojito.

Carries Bradshaw best fashion moments. This just confirms the urge I have to see the show again for the gazillion time.

A new shopping website. I want to give it a try. Let me know if you know it.

And the inspirational quote of the week. Enjoy!

Weekend fun

Can you believe it is already Sunday evening? I can’t, but I am happy to report it was a good one. Last night I hosted my first girls evening since we moved to this apartment. I had the girls from work come for a casual evening with drinks and food. I didn’t go overboard in planning something fancy, because it was not that type of evening. Instead I went for simple food and plenty of white wine. Also I read in Food and Wine magazine that the secret to a nice party is to serve dishes that are delicious weather they are hot, room temperature or even cold. The result was a nice and fun evening with the girls, that I hope we will repeat again.

My dress for the evening
It felt like spring dressed like this
Cheese plate

All the food was vegetarian, and the salad above has carrots, pomegranate and goat cheese

Tulips can be found at the market, so my house is ready for spring
This is how the table looked like, without the desert that was brought by some of the girls and the
bruschettas that were served fresh from the oven
Desert near the homemade guacamole and salsa (everything made by the girls), not very picture perfect but I tell you, delicious

Before the night ended we took this picture, only a few of us…
Today, after the apartment was cleaned, this little corner became my favorite.

Rain, oh rain

It is one of those rainy November days. Our German teacher told us that November is one of the saddest months in Zurich because the sun is almost never shining. And today proves him right, no sun, just cozy rain. So to make something of this day we went for some brunch and I also did some online shopping, but about that, in another post, after the goods get here. Have a look at what I wore today and feel free to let me know what you think.

Let it be fall

Did I tell you that we had a winter scare last weekend? We had the first snow in Switzerland and you can guess I was less than thrilled. But luckily for us it was just a few days and now we are back to warmer days. And you have to love autumn and all its colors! It is just amazing how beautiful everything gets. I had my parents here for a week and we walked quite a lot in the area where we live. I took a few snapshots with my phone that I hope you will enjoy.

Happy fall weekend!

One year since our engagement

Last year on this same day, my sweet Traian popped the question. It was magical and to celebrate he booked a table at one of the most nice restaurants we’ve seen so far in Zurich, The Dolder Grand. The place looks amazing, and the view from the hill is to die for. It was a very pleasant evening. Nice food in the company of my man…pure bliss!

Relaxing on a Saturday

This weekend is a long one for the Swiss residents (bank holiday on Monday) and for us is the weekend before our much awaited London city break. On Wednesday we are flying to Shakespeare’s land and for a few days we will enjoy the city and let’s not forget, Coldplay live on the Emirates. So our plan for this weekend was to relax as much as possible and to do some stuff around the house. Because the weather was extremely nice, in the afternoon we went for a long walk through the crowded streets of the city and ended up at the botanical garden. It was really cool since it was so peaceful and we could really enjoy the nature and the sun.

I love that you can see the ray of sunshine in this picture

Zurich Lake looking ready for the summer

Our evening ended at home having a glass of wine on our terrace.

I wish you all an amazing week!
